VfL Bochum’s Christopher Antwi-Adjei is among a number of returnees to the Ghana Black Stars squad to face Nigeria in two crucial African playoff games to the 2022 Fifa World Cup.
The German-born winger has been capped once by the Ghana senior national team.
This was when former coach Kwasi Appiah handed the 28-year-old his first call-up in November 2019 for games against South Africa and São Tomé and Príncipe in the opening matches of the qualifiers to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).
Antwi-Adjei – then of Paderborn – was unused when the Black Stars defeated the Bafana Bafana at Cape Coast but enjoyed 18 minutes of action in the 1-0 away victory over Sao Tome on November 18, 2019.
He has since not had another go at international football with the Black Stars.
Beginning the ongoing 2021/22 season, Antwi-Adjei secured a free transfer to Bochum who were making a return to the German Bundesliga. He has gone to enjoy 24 league appearances – half of which have been as a starter.
Ghana are scheduled to host the Nigerians at Baba Yara Stadium in a first leg encounter on Friday, March 25. The second meeting follows four days later at MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
