2022 WCQ: Edmund Addo out of Ghana-Nigeria playoffs with thigh injury

Ghana will be without Edmund Addo for the doubleheader 2022 Fifa World Cup playoff games against Nigeria due to injury.

The midfielder reported to the Black Stars camp with a thigh problem from his last game for Moldovan giants FC Sheriff last Saturday.

Following MRI tests by the Ghana medics, it has been confirmed that Addo cannot be involved in both games against the Super Eagles.

‘’Edmund complained of pain in the right thigh so we decided to take a scan to know the real situation,’’ Team Doctor Adam Baba told ghanafa.org.

‘’Unfortunately, the scan results revealed that he has a tear in the right thigh and would need two to three weeks to recover so I informed the coach about it and the decision was that we should allow him to travel to Moldova for treatment,” he added.

Edmund Addo has been excused to return to Moldova for treatment at his club on Thursday.

Ghana host Nigeria in a first-leg clash at Baba Yara Sports Stadium at 19:30 GMT on Friday.
