Patrick Twumasi joins Maccabi Netanya on 18-month contract with option

Ghana forward Patrick Twumasi has finally ended his nightmare at Hannover 96 by signing for Israeli Premier League side Maccabi Netanya.

The 27-year-old ‘expensive’ signing from Deportivo Alaves on a three-year contract in the summer of 2020’s unproductivity had become an albatross around the neck of the struggling German second-tier side.

Having not played for more than eight months, Twumasi – who was on a 70,000 euros basic salary – had issues with Hannover who came to a point of wanting to terminate his contract. But a standoff over the compensation due him saw the club forced to demote him to the U-23s just last Tuesday.

But Maccabi Netanya have come to the rescue of Twumasi by sealing a transfer agreement. He has signed until summer 2023 with an option for a further year.

“Ghana striker Patrick Twamassi signed at the Maccabi Netanya Football Club for a season and a half with an option for another season.

“Patrick played in the last season and a half in Hanover from the second German league and has previously played for Astana – the champion of Kazakhstan, Spanish club Deportivo Alaves and Turkish side Gaziantep,” the Israeli side announced via their socials on Thursday.

Patrick Twumasi scored just three goals (two of them in a 4-0 thrashing of Sandhausen a year ago) in 23 appearances during his one-and-a-half-year stint with Hannover.
