Berekum Chelsea beat Dreams away for first back-to-back wins

Berekum Chelsea secured back-to-back league wins for the first time this season as they stunned Dreams FC 1-0 at their own backyard Sunday afternoon.

The Bibires – after beating  Accra Lions at home last week – travelled to the Dawu Park for the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 16 fixture on the back of 3 draws, four defeats and zero wins on the road.

But a spirited display from the one-time league champions changed their story.

Kelvin Obeng put Berekum Chelsea in a surprise lead just before halftime – in the third minute of added time.

Dreams had done most of the attacking in the half but ended up trailing.

Coach Vladislav Viric’s boys kept probing but finding the back of the net remained their bane.

Two minutes from time, Dreams came close again with striker Kwaku Karikari seeing his header go straight into the woodwork.

The woes of the hosts were further compounded during additional time when defender Kingsley Owusu got sent off after picking his second yellow card. The first came in the 35th minute.

The solitary goal road victory takes Berekum Chelsea three places up to 9th in the league standings with 21 points – one more than Dreams who drop to 11th after 16 games.
