Bechem battle back to hold Berekum Chelsea, extend unbeaten run to 10 games

In-form Bechem United stretched their unbeaten streak to 10 games as they fought back to draw 1-1 away to Berekum Chelsea in a 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 17 fixture Friday afternoon.

The Hunters also saw their clean sheet run halted at 7 games at the Golden City Park but did well to avoid defeat after going down in the first half.

Kofi Owusu produced a striker’s finish to put Berekum Chelsea ahead in the 32nd minute when he was afforded the space and time to turn inside the box and fire home with his left foot.

The home team nearly doubled the lead midway into the second half but Bechem goalkeeper Abdulai Iddrisu dived well to parry away a free-kick by defender Henry Ainsu.

Bechem, however, got the equalizer in the 75th minute. Playmaker Augustine Okrah delivered a perfect cross into the Berekum Chelsea box for Emmanuel Annor who found himself free to head home.

1-1 it remained in the final 15 minutes.

The point earned from Berekum means second-placed Bechem United increase their tally to 30 from 17 first-round matches. Berekum Chelsea are also on 21 points.

Kofi Owusu won the NASCO man-of-the-match award.
