GoldStars recover to beat Legon Cities 2-1

Bibiani GoldStars fought back from a goal down to beat Legon Cities 2-1 at the Dun’s Park on match-day 14 of the 20021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) Sunday afternoon.

The hosts, after losing their last four games in the top-flight, needed a win at all cost against their visitors.

Cities had not lost in their last three games in all competitions and grabbing the lead was a great start for the struggling moneybags.

Osman Amadu scored in first time additional time and it was well-deserved as they had created most of the chances in the opening 45 minutes, save Emmanuel Appau’s shocking miss for Gold Stars.

After the break, Legon Cities kept their lead intact with some superb ball movement but Gold Stars took over from the 60th minute.

The home side kept knocking for the leveller and it arrived on the 71st minute when Emmanuel Appau beat goalkeeper William Essu in the second time of asking.

GoldStars pressured for the lead and an own goal by captain Francis Addo in the 78th minute confirmed their fight and urge against the defensive Cities.

The Royals failed to level and moving into match-week 15, they host Eleven Wonders as they aim to return to winning ways and improve their battle to escape relegation while lying 16th.

12th-placed GoldStars travel to WAFA.
