Ghana coach, Milovan Rajevac said Morocco were lucky to beat his side in the Group C opener of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).
A Thomas Partey blunder pounced on by Sofiane Boufal made sure the Atlas Lions run out 1-0 winners at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium Monday.
The Serb said he anticipated a tough game and it was truly the case as the Black Stars were dominated for the most part of the game.
“It was a tough match and we were expecting that because Morocco is one of the best teams on the continent and it was also the opening match of the group,” the 2010 Afcon final coach said after the game.
“We did not take our chances in the game and I think the Moroccans were lucky in the end. We were expecting the game to end in a draw.
“I want to congratulate the Moroccans on their win and my boys for fighting really hard. We have two matches left in the group so we have to concentrate on them so we can progress to the next stage.”
Ghana takes on Gabon on January 14 in the second group game before facing Comoros in their final Group C tie four days later.
