#WPLSuperCup: Kumasi Sports Academy roll to 3-0 win over AshTown Ladies

Kumasi Sports Academy crushed Ashanti Regional rivals AshTown Ladies 3-0 to begin their campaign in the maiden Women’s Premier Super Cup in style Friday afternoon.

With LadyStrikers stunning Hasaacas Ladies to open Group B in the morning fixture, it was the turn of the two Kumasi-based sides to lock horns at Madina Zurak Park, Accra.

Forward Diana Afriyie gave Kumasi Sports Academy the perfect start by hitting home the opener with less than two minutes on the clock after a howler by goalkeeper Joyce Boateng.

The 1-0 lead lasted for the entire duration of the first half.

Just three minutes into the second half, 19-year-old midfielder Joyce Larbi scored from the spot to put Sports Academy on course for the win after referee Mansa Hommey awarded them a penalty.

Diana Afriyie returned to finish the scoring with a header after a lovely run and cross by captain Naomi Anima on 77 minutes.

Kuamsi Sports Academy defender Sandra Osei Nyarko was adjudged Woman-of-the-match.

The thoroughly convincing 3-0 win sees Kumasi Sports Academy top the Group B standings. LadyStrikers are second also with three points and a goal to their credit while losers Hasaacas and AshTown Ladies come in third and fourth positions respectively after the opening matches.
