#WPLSuperCup: Hasaacas Ladies fall to ‘surprise’ defeat by LadyStrikers
LadyStrikers caused an upset by beating Sekondi Hasaacas Ladies as Group B took centre stage at the ongoing maiden Women’s Premier Super Cup competition Friday.
The domestic double winners fell 1-0 to their Southern Zone rivals from Central Region in the first game of the day at Madina Zurak Park.
Hasaacas – who ended up as silver winners at the Caf Women’s Champions League tournament in Egypt just last week – presented a much-changed squad as a huge chunk of their starters had joined the national team camps upon their return to the country earlier this week.

Coach Yusif Basigi knew they were really up for it from kickoff as LadyStrikers took the game to them despite not being prolific in attack.
Then came the moment – LadyStrikers took a surprise lead on the 40th-minute mark with versatile Gladys Amfobea lobbing the ball over goalkeeper Diana Maaweremou.
Hasaacas Ladies responded almost immediately after going down but Veronica Appiah’s effort came off the woodwork.
LadyStrikers were able to hold onto their slim advantage for the rest of the match.
Goalscorer Gladys Amfobea was named Woman-of-the-match.
🥳With a solitary strike and a brilliant performance, @Ladystrikers_fc Glady Amfobea gets the Woman of the match tag. 🥳
