Ghanaian sensation, Felix Afena-Gyan became the first player born in 2003 to score in the Italian Serie A after coming off the bench to propel AS Roma to a sensational away victory at Genoa with a brace Sunday night.
The two goals are the striker’s first for the Roma senior team since he was promoted from the youth side a couple of weeks ago by manager Jose Mourinho.
Afena-Gyan came off the bench to replace Eldor Shomurodov in the 74th minute when the scoreline was goalless.
It took the 18-year-old only 8 minutes to break the deadlock, puting Roma in the lead with a sweet strike.
Afena-Gyan – who turned down an invitation for Ghana duties during the international break to focus on his development – added his second in the closing stages of the game to wrap things up for his side.
AS Roma were without a win in their last three games and this now puts them 6th in the Serie A standings with 22 points.
