A Yahaya Mohammed free-kick propelled Aduana FC to their first victory on the road in their 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day five trip to Legon Cities Friday afternoon.
The Fire Boys won the game 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Both sides were guilty of wasting a bundle of chances.
But the visitors had experienced striker Yahaya Mohammed – who was making his first start this new season – to thank after winger Emmanuel Gyamfi was fouled by Nat Akwah right inside the penalty arc midway into the first half.
Yahaya stood over the free-kick, with a clear sight on goal, and drilled one of his thunderous shooting techniques straight into the top corner on 28 minutes.
Legon Cities committed men forward in search of the equalizer with the likes of Michel Otou smashing some long drives.
Aduana had to endure a nervy final few moments before securing their second straight victory.
The Royals’ second-half substitute Asamoah Boateng Afriyie – almost just like he did in last Sunday’s draw at WAFA – came close to levelling the scores with a late-minute chance but his header went over the bar.
The 1-0 victory takes Aduana FC to 8 points while Legon Cities also have 5 to show from five games played.
Legon Cities midfielder Michel Otou won the NASCO man-of-the-match award.
