Ghana international, Jeffrey Schlupp scored his first goal of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign within seconds of coming off the bench as Crystal Palace fought back to draw 2-2 against Leicester City Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles began the match well but failed to take their chances in the opening half-hour at Selhurst Park.
Thanks to defensive errors from Joachim Andersen, the Foxes went 2-0 up after 37 minutes. Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho and Jamie Vardy scored within six minutes for the visitors.
But manager Patrick Vieira’s second-half substitutes Michael Olise and Jeffrey Schlupp would go to inspire a Palace fightback.
They finally made the breakthrough in the 61st minute as Nigerian-born summer-signing Olise – who replaced Ghana’s Jordan Ayew 8 minutes earlier – fired home from his own blocked effort. His first goal for Palace.
Then, 48 seconds after coming on as a substitute, Jeffrey Schlupp – who spent seven years at Leicester and was part of their Premier League-winning side in the 2015/16 season – nodded home to secure a deserved draw for Palace.
Another Ghanaian, Daniel Amartey warmed the bench for Leicester City.
