Asante Kotoko have tied down influential defender Abdul Ganiyu Ismail to a new contract until 2023.
The 25-year-old joined the Porcupine Warriors from Karela United in October 2018 – and has gone on to win the hearts of many at the club with his calm nature and assured displays.
These earned him a place in the Ghana Black Stars set-up.
It was feared Ganiyu would leave Kotoko as a free agent when the club failed to open extension talks early with the centre-back.
But the situation changed especially in the past fortnight and the player has extended his stay by two more years, Kotoko officially announced Tuesday.

Ganiyu was a key member of the Kotoko squad last season, missing just one out of 34 games in the Ghana Premier League. He started every match in the 33 he played.
He played 15 matches in the opening years of his Kotoko stint due to a knee injury during the preliminary round of the 2018/19 Caf Confederation Cup
Abdul Ganiyu Ismail is highly tipped to be confirmed as new Asante Kotoko substantive captain as they aim to reclaim the title from sworn rivals Hearts of Oak in the upcoming 2021/22 Ghana Premier League.
