Fatoumata Tamboura: Burkinabé Messi joins Hasaacas Ladies

Ghana Women’s Premier League giants, Hasaacas Ladies have completed the signing of Burkina Faso international Fatoumata Tamboura.

The 21-year-old forward, nicknamed ‘National Messi’ in her homeland, joins from US Des Forces Armees on a two-year contract.

Hasaacas spotted her talent during the West Africa Football Union (Wafu) Zone B Women’s Champions League qualifiers.

Fatoumata further solidifies a Hasmal Ladies attack that already boasts of Milot Pokuaa and Doris Boaduwaa ahead of next month’s Caf Women’s Champions League tournament in Egypt.

Head coach Yusif Basigi expressed his excitement in acquiring the experienced forward to the team.

“She’s a great addition to our set-up. We saw her at the Wafu Zone B tournament and she was a standout in her team.

“We are glad to have signed her. There’s a huge competition for her to get into the first team so let’s see how it pans out,” he stated.

Fatoumata scored two of the three goals that helped USFA to top Group A during the Wafu Zone B qualifiers before they got beaten 2-0 by eventual winners Hasaacas Ladies in the semifinals.

She is part of the Burkina Faso senior national team and will take part in the upcoming 2022 Women’s Afcon qualifiers.
