DOL Super Cup: Accra Lions, Samartex complete semifinals lineup

The maiden Division One League (DOL) Super Cup is heading into the business end with the semifinal lineup complete after Accra Lions and FC Samartex 1996 picked their slots from Group B on Monday.

Accra Lions needed the three points to progress and did so by beating Real Tamale United (RTU) 2-1 in a battle of the newly-promoted Premier League sides at McDan La Town Park.

In-form striker Frederick Asante put Lions ahead in the 10th minute after converting from the spot but Prince Atta Antwi drew RTU level with a stunning free-kick 11 minutes later.

Asante then snatched the winner with his brace in the 62nd minute for Lions who finished the group stage with six points.

In the other Group B game, Samartex 1996 swept aside Berekum Arsenal 2-0 to advance to the last four.

Samartex and RTU tied on four points but the Timbers won the slot with better goals difference.

The semifinals pairings will see Group A winners Tema Youth take on FC Samartex at 9 am in the first fixture while Accra Lions face Skyy FC at 3 pm.

Both games will be played at the Madina AstroTurf. on Wednesday, October 20.
