Caf President Dr Motsepe praises the spirit of Ghanaian people

The President of Confederation of African Football (Caf), Dr. Patrice Motsepe has hailed the ingenuity of Ghanaians after arriving in the West African country on Wednesday morning on a two-day working visit.

The leader of Africa’s football governing body was met on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra by the Minister for Youth and Sport, Honourable Mustapha Ussif, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kurt Okraku as well as other dignitaries of the local federation.

Dr. Motsepe is visiting Ghana for the first time since he was elected as the Caf President in March and he will be engaged in various activities during the visit.


During the visit, Dr. Motsepe will be the Special Guest at the Youth connects Programme – an initiative of H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana.

He will meet President Akufo Addo at a dinner event in Accra Wednesday evening to brainstorm on how to transform the African Youth while expatiating on policies and programmes for the development of African football.

The Caf President praised the youth of Ghana for their contribution to the betterment of Africa, insisting the young people of the country inspire the rest of the continent.

“I feel honoured to be in Ghana to participate in this Youth summit and also to meet the football community. I feel very proud of Ghana and your achievements as a country,” the Caf President Motsepe said on his arrival at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra.

“It’s good to help the youth and so I am glad to be here to share ideas with the Youth and also to meet the President of the Republic of Ghana and other top officials.

“You inspire me and all of us. Ghanaians do so well all over the world, my favourite professor back in school was a Ghanaian – Philip Amoah. He was such a brilliant man.

GFA President Okraku expressed his delight over President Motsepe’s visit to the country revealing that the football fraternity is anxious to meet the leader of Africa’s football governing body.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will host a breakfast meeting in honour of the Caf President where he will engage with the Youth and Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif (Hon.), Football stakeholders, GFA Executive Council Members, Corporate Ghana, past and present football administrators and the media.
