Kotoko CEO opens door to top Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah

Asante Kotoko CEO, Nana Yaw Amponsah will welcome the return of legend Kwasi Appiah as head coach of the club.

The Porcupine Warriors have been reported to be in talks with the former Black Stars gaffer for the 2021/22 season.

However, the return of Appiah to Kotoko depends on the future of Portuguese coach, Mariano Barreto, who is reportedly departing.

The Portuguese gaffer, before leaving Ghana for holidays made several comments, questioning the club’s professionalism and status.

Is Barreto staying? “That’s what management and the board are discussing with him. It’s not just a decision of the CEO,” said Nana Yaw Amponsah on Starr FM.

Asked about the club’s options and specifically coach Kwasi Appiah, Nana Yaw Amponsah indicated that the ex-defender will be welcomed back if he is available.

“I can’t confirm or deny. I don’t want to go into that but if at any point in time Kwasi Appiah wants to come to Kotoko, the doors are opened,” he added.

The Porcupine Warriors are yet to start pre-season, but the new campaign starts on October 29, 2021.
