Diawisie Taylor: 2020/21 GPL top scorer expecting GFA recognition

Karela United striker Diawisie Taylor is awaiting the Ghana Football Association’s end-of-season awards to congratulate his efforts for emerging the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League top scorer.

The GFA held a short ceremony at the head office of sponsors, NASCO, to reward the Coach of the Season and Player of the season to Hearts coach Samuel Boadu and Ibrahim Salifu repectively.

But Taylor says the event was not held to commemorate the season’s best performing sportsmen.

“I saw it yesterday, I think this is not coming from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), I think Nasco organized it, I don’t want to believe it is a general awards ceremony that we all know,” he told Angel FM Accra.

“They awarded Player of the season and coach of the season, as a top scorer I didn’t hear anything from them.

“Awards like this people will expect who is the top scorer with the golden boot.”

Diawisie Taylor scored 18 goals for the Aiyinase-based club in the league and will be worried if he reveives no award for the feat chalked.

“It will be very worrying if I don’t get any plaque to show that I’m the top scorer

“I’m hoping that this is not the final awards ceremony,” he noted.

Hearts of Oak head coach Samuel Boadu won the best coach of the year plaque, and GH¢8,000 shopping voucher while Ibrahim Salifu received his award and shopping voucher worth GH¢5,000.
