Cash out! Akonnor entitled to $275,000 after Black Stars exit

Coach CK Akonnor is entitled to not less than a combined amount of $275,000 after being relieved of duties with the Ghana senior national team, the Black Stars.

The former captain has been on a two-year contract which earned him $25,000 as monthly salary since January 2020

But that contract was terminated after a decision of the GFA Executive Council on Monday, September 13, some four months from its expiry date.

Per the dictates of Akonnor’s contract, he is entitled to a payout for the remainder of his contract in the event of unjustifiable termination of the contract.

The remaining four months of his contract amount to $100,000.

In August, it was revealed and confirmed by Akonnor and the Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif that the 47-year-old trainer’s salary was seven months in arrears, approximately $175,000.

In essence, CK Akonnor is owed a total of $275,000.
