Some 15 hours after being shown the exit as coach of the Ghana senior national team, CK Akonnor has broken his silence.
Taking to his official Twitter handle Tuesday morning, the 47-year-old acknowledged his dismissal with a show of appreciation “for the opportunity to serve” to the major stakeholders of the national team including President Nana Akufo-Addo.
“I’m grateful to H.E President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Sports Ministry, my former boss Kwasi Appiah, the leadership of the GFA, colleagues I worked with, players and Ghanaians for the opportunity to serve. Wishing the team all the best,” the tweet read.

Akonnor was fired on Monday following a recent poor run of results in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.
The Black Stars laboured to a 1-0 home win over Ethiopia and then lost by the same scoreline to South Africa in the first two games in Group G of the African qualifiers, in which only the top team advances to the next stage of qualifying.
