Aisha Buhari Cup 2021: Captain Elizabeth Addo excluded from final Ghana squad

Ghana coach, Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo has named her final squad of 23 players for the inaugural Aisha Buhari Invitational Women’s Tournament.

There is no place for captain Elizabeth Addo who reportedly has been ignored due to a recent outburst over the team’s treatment by the Ghana FA.

Otherwise known as the Aisha Buhari Cup, the six-nation competition has a new date of September 15 to 21 in Lagos with two match venues – Agege Stadium and Mobolaji Johnson Stadium at Onikan, Lagos Island.

Ghana, the two–time Women’s Afcon runners-up, are housed in Group B alongside Cameroon and South Africa while hosts Nigeria battle Mali and Morocco in Group A.

The Black Queens will first play Bayana Bayana at Onikan with kickoff set at 18:00 GMT on September 17 before facing the Indomitable Lionesses at the same time and venue three days later to complete the group phase.
