Fixtures for the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) have been announced.
The first weekend of this GPL campaign will be on October 29 and will end on Sunday, June 19, 2022, after 306 matches played over 34 rounds.
Defending champions Hearts of Oak will kick the season off at home to Legon Cities while runners-up Asante Kotoko will be on the road against Dreams FC at Dawu Park.
The two sworn rivals will face off in the Super Clash on match-day 7 and 24 at the Accra Sports Stadium and Baba Yara Sports Stadium respectively.
This means King Faisal get to become the first side to use the newly-refurbished Kumasi Stadium in the coming season hosting Academy Boys WAFA SC in the opening round.
The Kumasi derby between the Insha Allah Boys and the Porcupine Warriors comes as early as match-day 6.
Accra Lions, Bibiani Gold Stars and Real Tamale United – who join the season as newly-promoted sides – will make their Ghana Premier League bows after Division One success at home on the opening weekend.
First-timers Accra Lions and Bibiani Gold Stars are to play hosts to Elmina Sharks and Berekum Chelsea respectively. while returnees Real Tamale United match up against good old Great Olympics at Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
Match-day 15 will witness the doubleheader between Kumasi and Accra where Hearts of Oak hosts King Faisal while Asante Kotoko clashes with Accra Great Olympics.
Hearts will host the first Ga Mashie derby on match-day 16 with Great Olympics playing ‘landlords in the reverse on the penultimate round of the season.
Specific dates, times and Television schedules for the fixtures would be announced after the Club License Board submits approved venues for the season.
