Ghana Football Association Executive Council member, Nana Sarfo Oduro wants football clubs to strengthen their brand marketing to generate more revenue.
“Running a football club is a business for you and your family and it involves money. GFA sponsorship is just a bonus for the clubs.
“They (clubs) should look for their sponsorship,” Sarfo told OTEC FM in an interview.
“Clubs should try and do things that will bring them sponsorship. It is good for the GFA to bring sponsorship but it is not mandatory.
“The club owners should employ marketers and I believe they will get there.”
Sarfo further urged club owners to sell their teams if they fail to generate income for it’s running.
“I don’t think Liverpool’s sponsors were brought to them by the EPL, they fought for them. What the FA can do for the clubs are TV and Commercial sponsorships.
“Look for strategic partners or sell your team if you can’t run it,” the experienced football brain concluded.
The 2020/21 Ghana Premier League ended without a headline sponsor but is rumoured to have a big brand as major sponsor for this season’s campaign.
