Fatawu Safiu joins Swedish third-tier side FC Trollhättan till 2023

Ghana forward Abdul Fatawu Safiu has left Trelleborgs FF for FC Trollhättan in the Swedish third-tier.

The 27-year-old secured the move on the mid-season transfer deadline day.

Safiu, whose contract was to expire later in December, endured a frustrating opening half of the ongoing 2021 Swedish Supprettan at Trelleborgs.

He got a paltry 386 minutes under his belt in 16 substitute appearances – a situation that has forced him to move one step down from second-tier football by signing for FC Trollhättan.

“I am grateful that I got the opportunity to play for Trelleborgs FF and I also want to thank my teammates and the management staff for the time here.

“It was tough not to have the supporters in place last year and part of this season, but of course I want to thank you too,” Safiu said in his parting words to Trelleborgs.

Abdul Fatawu Safiu is contracted to FC Trollhättan for the next two-and-a-half years,

The former Portland Timbers 2, Whitecaps and Vimmerby attacker combined12 goals in 56 matches since arriving in Sweden from Asante Kotoko in 2019.
