Asumah Abubakar fires first goal of season for FC Lugano

Ghana striker Asumah Abubakar opened his season’s account with a goal for FC Lugano in the 2021/22 Swiss Super League Sunday afternoon.

The Bianconeri bounced back from an opening day home defeat by winning 2-0 at Servette FC in a match-day two clash at Stade de Genève.

Asumah, 24, was not the only Ghanaian involved in the game as striker Grejohn Kyei was also handed a starting berth by Servette before they were both substituted later in the game.

Lugano scored quickfire goals within a space of two minutes in the second half to condemn Severtte to a home defeat.

Mattia Botani opened the scoring in the 47th minute.

Just two minutes later, Abubakar made it 2-0 with a strike into the top right corner.

Abubakar played 80 minutes before making way for 36-year-old Senegalese striker Demba Ba

Kyei was withdrawn earlier for Servette in the 56th minute.

The victory is Lugano’s first in 10 years away to Servette in Geneva. The last dates back to the 2010/11 season when both teams played in the Challenge League. It ended 2-0 too.
