Gyan and I would have been ‘dead’ if Legon Cities had been relegated – Fatau Dauda

Legon Cities goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda believes he and legendary striker Asamoah Gyan would have been held liable if the Royals had been relegated from the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

The Accra-based moneybags were on the verge of exiting the topflight in their final game of the 2020/21 season against Eleven Wonders but managed to stage a dramatic fightback to win  3-2 and secured their status.

“I’m supposed to be the happiest player – myself and Asamoah Gyan.

“Because of our pedigree, if Legon Cities had been relegated, we would have been ‘dead’ but God did it for us by escaping relegation narrowly.

“It was a difficult season for us, but we were able to beat Eleven Wonders and now we are not relegated,” Dauda said in a post-match reaction.

Legon Cities ended the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League 13th on the league log with 42 points.
