#FootyTransfers: Ghana striker Malik Abubakari joins Malmö FF till 2025

Swedish giants Malmö FF have secured the signing of Ghana striker Malik Abubakari.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a successful campaign last season on loan at Casa Pia AC in the Portuguese second-tier where he scored 11 goals and made four assists in 32 appearances.

Malmö, on Wednesday, announced completing the capture of Abubakari from Moreirense FC and has signed a four-year contract until 2025.

“It feels fantastic. I am very happy to have signed for Malmö FF, I know that it is a big club and I notice that now that I have come here,” the youngster said in his first interview.

“I am here to score goals, but above all to be involved and contribute to the club’s success.

“Immediately when I knew that Malmö FF were interested, I wanted to come here. There was no doubt. And now I belong to the MFF family, this is my new home,” Abubakari added.

The Sporting Director for Malmö, Daniel Andersson also stated:

“He is a very exciting player who has both scored goals and assists in the Portuguese second division.

“He is a good ball receiver, is fast and also a good finisher. So he has many good qualities and we think he will be a good complement to the attacking players we have.”

Malik Abubakari started out at Accra-based Charity Stars FC before catching the eye of Portuguese club FC Vizela.

After a year, he signed a professional contract with Moreirense in the Portuguese top tier and has since been loaned to AD Fafe and most recently Casa Pia AC. In total, there were 20 goals in 55 appearances during the two loan spells.

Malik Abubakari will wear jersey number 17 and is ready to play on July 15.
