#FootyTransfers: Al Sadd reach agreement to sign Andre Ayew

Andre Ayew has agreed to join Qatari giants Al Sadd SC, the club announced Wednesday.

The 31-year-old became a free agent this summer after running down his contract with English club Swansea City.

Ayew – the Ghana captain – is expected to arrive in Doha on Thursday, July 22 to undergo mandatory medical and complete paperwork with Al Zaeem.

“Al Sadd have reached an agreement to sign Ghanaian star Andre Ayew. The player will arrive in Doha in the morning to complete the routine procedures, followed by the signing of the contract and the official announcement,” the club stated in a tweet.

Al Sadd have won the country’s domestic league for a record of 15 times and the domestic cup competition 17 times.

They are being coached by FC Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez.

Al Sadd becomes Andre Ayew’s 7th club in his career.  His six previous stints have all been in Europe with clubs like Olympique Marseille, FC Lorient, Arles-Avignon, Swansea City, West Ham United and Fenerbahce.
