Al Sadd: Andre Ayew signs two years with option

In his unveiling video, the attacker said he joined to “continue his father’s legacy and win more titles”

Ghana forward Andre Ayew has finalized his move to Qatari Stars League giants Al Sadd SC.

The 31-year-old signed a contract that will keep him at the club for a guaranteed two seasons and an option to extend for the 2023/24 campaign.

Andre signed the deal in the presence of father Abedi Ayew who previously played Al Sadd some 39 years.

In an unveiling video introducing his son, Abedi Pele is captured chronicling his career which took him from RTU to Al Sadd before he moved to Europe with Swiss side FC Zurich. Andre also said he has joined Al Sadd to “continue his father’s legacy and win more titles.”

After running down his contract with English side Swansea City, Andre Ayew was linked to Premier League sides Brighton and Newcastle United but chose to end a 14-year sojourn in Europe for a more lucrative offer.

Andre Ayew has been handed shirt number 24 and will reportedly be earning over $200,000 per month.

The Ghana captain will be working with Barcelona and Spain legend Xavi Hernandez who also recently extended his contract as coach of Al Sadd until 2023.
