After three defeats in a row, AshantiGold finally bagged three points after beating Ebusua Dwarfs 1-0 in a 2020/21 Ghana Premier League match-day 29 clash Sunday afternoon.
The Miners – playing hosts at Len Clay Stadium – dominated possession but their tepid attack struggled to break down Dwarfs’ backline.
After 36 minutes, Michael Agyekum got a chance to open the scoring for the Miners through a penalty. But the attacker’s strike from the spot got saved by young goalkeeper Bright Quaye.
Nine minutes into the second half, nimble-footed Seth Osei finally broke the deadlock with a nice solo move and finish.
Late into the game, AshantiGold assistant coach Thomas Duah – who has been in acting capacity as the head – received the marching orders from referee Julian Nunoo.
The solitary goal victory sees AshantiGold move 10th with 37 points while Ebusua Dwarfs also drop to second from bottom of the standings with 31 after 29 matches.
Seth Osei was named NASCO man-of-the-match.
