Liberty Professionals battled back from giving away an initial lead to edge out a vital 3-2 win at home to WAFA SC on match-day 28 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.
Playing hosts to the owners of the Sogapoke Arena, it was Kingsford Opoku Frimpong who shot Liberty in front after 19 minutes.
But WAFA strongly responded and equalized through Augustine Boakye just four minutes after going down.
The Academy then took a 2-1 lead in the 31st minute courtesy striker Justus Torsutsey.
Liberty trailed 2-1 at the break.
In the 64th minute, Abraham Wayo pulled the Scientific Soccer lads level, 2-2, by converting a spot-kick after midfielder Prosper Ahiabu won a penalty against his former club.
Striker Kweku Karikari went on to score what proved the match-winning goal for Liberty in the 72nd minute.
The 3-2 result pushes Liberty Professionals – who have been flirting with relegation – one spot up in the safety zone to 14th with 32 points. They are 10 points adrift WAFA who also drop one place to 7th in the league standings after 28 matches.
