Coach Evans Adotey leaves Karela on health grounds

Karela United head coach, Augustine Evans Adotey has left post on health grounds, the club has announced.

Via its socials Tuesday afternoon, the Aiyinase-based club posted that an agreement has been reached with the coach to step aside for the remaining three matches of the ongoing season.

Adotey’s departure comes after Monday’s Ghana Premier League defeat to relegation-threatened Ebusua Dwarfs. The Passion and Pride were surprisingly battered 4-1 at home in the match-day 31 fixture.

After a bright start to the 2020/21 season which saw them lead the league log at the halfway stage, Karela United’s fortunes have taken a nosedive in the second round.

The CAM Park outfit – now in 7th position with 46 points – has managed only three wins in fourteen second-round games, a form which has been a great source of worry to many a club faithful.

It is unclear who takes over the Karela job for the rest of the season as Adotey’s assistant Stephen Abugri recently quit for a Division One club.
