Liberty and Medeama thrash out barren stalemate

Liberty Professionals failed to bounce back to winning ways as they played out a 0-0 draw with title-chasing Medeama SC in their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League match-day 23 fixture at Sogakope on Sunday.

The Scientific Soccer lads lost 2-0 away to Great Olympics the past weekend and were hoping to boost their battle to avoid a relegation dogfight with a win at their newly adopted home grounds.

However, Liberty could not bury the few chances they created against the dominant visitors.

Medeama striker Prince Opoku Agyemang – who joined his teammates less than 24 hours after he tied the knot on Saturday – was handed a starting berth and even found the back of the net before halftime.

But the goal was chalked off for offside, much to the chagrin of the Mauve and Yellows bench.

Liberty midfielder Prosper Ahiabu was adjudged NASCO man-of-the-match.

With the points shared, Liberty remain just above the drop zone with 25 points with Medeama dropping from the top of the league standings to third spot on 40 – same as Great Olympics who edge them on the head-to-head rule.
