Late Samuel Boakye goal earns Wonders 2-1 win over Aduana

A late Samuel Boakye strike saw Eleven Wonders rally to beat Aduana FC 2-1 in their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 22 clash Saturday afternoon.

Visiting Aduana took the lead after 13 minutes when skipper Bright Adjei – after a one-two pass with Nana Kow – arrived on time to head home a rebound off the latter’s shot which got parried into his path by Wonders goalkeeper Michael Abu.

However, the lead was cancelled out by Wonders four minutes after going down.

Aduana left-back Abass Mohammed was adjudged to have fouled veteran striker Alex Asamoah in the box and Mohammed Tetteh Nortey stepped and expertly converted the spot-kick in the 17th minute.

The game was turning out a boring stalemate until the home team snatched a late winner.

Striker Samuel Boakye got the winner for Wonders with a sweet turn, went past a crawling Sam Adams before hitting beyond the reach of Aduana goalkeeper Massawudu Inusah three minutes from the final whistle.

Thee 2-1 victory takes Eleven Wonders to 25 points, five adrift Aduana after 22 matches.
