The Japan Football Association (JFA) has confirmed an international friendly date between its Olympic men’s football team and the Black Meteors of Ghana.
An earlier announcement by their Ghanaian counterparts on May 13 had stated that they were to engage in two tuneup matches on June 4 and 8.
But the JFA appears to have had a change in plans as it announced a game each with Ghana and Jamaica for next month.
“The U-24 Japan National Team will face the U-24 Ghana National Team in an international friendly match at Best Denki Stadium in Fukuoka Prefecture on Saturday, June 5 as part of the strengthening for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games,” read a publication on May 17.
Kickoff time is tentatively set at 19:25 local time (10:25 GMT).
Japan will next play Jamaica at Toyota Stadium in Aichi on June 12.
Head coach Hajime Moriyasu released a 27-man squad for both friendlies on Thursday:
