Black Stars pitch camp in Cape Coast to prep for June friendlies

The Ghana senior national team, Black Stars, will be opening camp in Cape Coast today, Friday, May 28, to begin preparations for two international friendly matches scheduled for next month, the GFA has announced.

The Black Stars ate to play guests to Morocco on Tuesday, June 8 in Rabat and then host close border neighbours Cote d’Ivoire on Saturday, June 12 at the Cape Coast stadium.

Bar skipper Andre Ayew and Tariqe Fosu-Henry who have club commitments in the English Championship playoff final between Brentford and Swansea City as well as the 8 local players on duty this weekend, all 20 other players in head coach CK Akonnor’s 30-man squad for the two games are expected to report to camp on the first day.

Coach Akonnor will use the test games to assess his squad ahead of the African qualifiers to the 2022 Fifa World Cup in September where the Black Stars are scheduled to begin their campaign against Ethiopia and South Africa.
