Liberty down Berekum Chelsea to exit relegation slots… for now!

Liberty Professionals recorded their third consecutive victory in the Ghana Premier League by beating Berekum Chelsea 2-0 on Saturday.

The tides have turned for the Scientific Soccer lads since going five games without a win. After switching venue to Sogakope Park, they have transformed their season.

Abraham Wayo and Amadu Awudu found the net for the Dansoman based side in an encounter that produced a sluggish Berekum Chelsea performance.

Wayo struck the first goal for the home side as early as the 6th minute and they held on till half time.

After the break, Chelsea looked satisfactory for the first twenty minutes in midfield but they struggled to break Liberty’s backline.

The home side then took over and threatened well as the clash headed for closure.

In the 79th minute, Amadu Awudu eluded his marker to poke home the second goal for Liberty to wrap their hands on the three points.

The win takes them to 14th place with 24 points, two points above the relegation zone as they await results from Sunday’s games. They brace themselves for their next fixture against Great Olympics.

Berekum Chelsea, lying 10th for now, will also play WAFA at the Golden City Park.
