New signing Prince Abednego Asafo scored late as Dreams FC inflicted more misery on Karela United with a 1-0 defeat when they completed their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 20 fixture Monday morning.
The fixture was disrupted by heavy rains which rendered parts of the Dawu Theatre of Dreams field unplayable, forcing referee Emmanuel Tampuri to stop proceedings after 50 minutes Sunday afternoon. The game was barren at the time.
Per GFA rules, the encounter was to be completed with the remaining time left – 40 minutes – at the same venue and with the same set of players on Monday.

In the 67th minute, Karela United were reduced to 10 men as Yaw Acheampong received a second yellow card for misconduct after referee Tampuri awarded a foul in his favour.
Agyenim Boateng Mensah put the ball in the back of the net in the 75th minute but the goal did not stand for a deliberate handball which attracted the forward a yellow card.
And Abednego Asafo – who joined the Believers in the second transfer window – announced his presence with the all-important goal in the 90th minute, outjumping his markers to connect to an Emmanuel Ocran corner kick.
The 1-0 victory is Dreams FC’s first in three second-round games and it moves them to sixth place in the league standings with 30 points from 20 matches.
Karela United – who have just a point from their last three games – continue their slump from the top and are now in fifth place with 32 points.
Dreams FC’s Abednego was named NASCO man-of-the-match.
