Asante Kotoko won 2-0 in their match-day 19 game against Berekum Chelsea to move to the summit of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
The Porcupines broke the deadlock in the 26th minute when Francis Andy Kumi connected well to a cross from Augustine Okrah.
Berekum Chelsea, after conceding, forced for a leveller but the Bibires were lacklustre in attack till halftime.
The visitors, however, improved in the second half and were awarded a penalty after a foul from Yussif Mubarik but Bright Amponsah missed. Kotoko then held on in dominating the game in midfield to protect their lead.
As the match headed for full time, the Reds netted again.
Fabio Gama’s delightful passing with Godfred Asiamah in front of the Chelsea 18-yard box then left Asiamah alone with goalkeeper Samuel Adjei.
The midfielder exceptionally dribbled past the shot-stopper before calmly slotting home.
The triumph is Kotoko’s second under new coach Mariano Barreto, having drawn 1-1 against Eleven Wonders and beating Bechem United 4-0 on Wednesday.
A win against Great Olympics, who are second on the league log will further extend their lead at the top.
Berekum Chelsea also play Ebusua Dwarfs on match-day 20.
