Fatawu Safiu opens season’s account as Trelleborgs draw at Vasalunds

Ghana’s Abdul Fatawu Safiu was on the scoresheet as Trelleborgs FF secured a 2-2 draw at Vasalunds IF in the 2021 Swedish Superettan Saturday afternoon.

The former Asante Kotoko forward missed the starting XI for the second successive game in the new campaign but had to be introduced after 33 minutes of play at Skytteholms IP Stadium following a neck injury to Dzenis Kosica.

Vasalunds took the lead in the 55th minute through Guinea international Mai Traore.

But Safiu pegged back for the visitors 7 minutes later with a header from a corner.

Trelleborgs went ahead to take a 2-1 lead via a Johan Blomberg free-kick in the 70th minute but it was short-lived by Kenyan defender Anthony Wambani’s equalizer after three minutes.

The 2-2 draw means Trelleborgs have amassed four points from two matches in the new Swedish Superettan campaign.
