Elmina Sharks quartet banned 126 matches, fined GH¢20k

Four Elmina Sharks players have been summarily fined GH¢20,000 and suspended for 126 matches by the GFA Disciplinary Committee for misconduct in a Ghana Premier League match.

The players – Samuel Arthur, Justice Mensah, Emmanuel Gustav Addington and Alhaji Mustapha – been handed the punishment after being found guilty of verbally and physically attacking referee Eric Owusu Prempeh after their 2-1 defeat at home to Mmedeama SC on February 21.

Arthur – a defender and club captain  – received the severest suspension of 39 matches while the trio of Mensah, Addington and Mustapha were slapped a ban from 29 games.

Each player is to also cough out GH¢5,000 as fine.

The Disciplinary Committee also fined Elmina Sharks GH¢10,000 over the incident which saw supporters of the club enter the inner perimeter of the Nduom Sports Complex to abused and assaulted the Centre Referee.
