Ashimeru registers first league goal for Anderlecht
Majeed Ashimeru scored his first goal for RSC Anderlecht in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League Monday evening.
The Ghana midfielder has endured a slow start to his loan spell from Red Bull Salzburg due to the effects of COVID-19.
Ashimeru had scored in the Belgian Cup before going off for weeks after testing positive for COVID and only returned to first-team action a fortnight ago.
In their visit to Royal Antwerp, the 23-year-old was handed a starting berth and played for 79 minutes before making way for Francis Amuzu.
Ashimeru opened the floodgates with a 52nd-minute strike as Anderlecht hammered Royal Antwerp 4-1 at Bosuilstadion.
Michael Amir Murillo (62), Anouar Ait El Hadj (77) and Yari Verschaeren (84) scored to complete the goals before Maxime Le Marchand grabbed a consolation for the hosts a minute from time.
The victory moves RSC Anderlecht within two points of second-placed Royal Antwerp in the Jupiler Pro League standings after 32 matches.
