Opoku Agyemang goal helps Medeama pick point at Berekum Chelsea

A goal in either half from Stephen Amankona and Prince Agyemang had Berekum Chelsea and Medeama share points at Golden City Park on match-day seventeen of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League (GPL).

It was a game of few chances. Both sides are known to be strong sides but Medeama have never won in Berekum in the last eight years.

So for the Yellow and Mauves, a point could be enough.

The home side looked the more active side in attack and they had the first goal through Amankonah in the 21st minute.

After the lead, Chelsea sat in the middle to prevent Medeama’s already known possession-based strategy.

Now with a new coach Yaw Acheampong, who is acknowledged for his defensive organization,  many will have expected Medeama to sit deep.

But the visitors tried to keep the ball moving only to meet a resolute Chelsea defence who ended the game in the lead at halftime.

In the second half, Medeama looked better. They created enough from the flanks, held on to Chelsea’s attack well and found the right spaces.

After huffing and puffing for long, their equalizer came through Prince Opoku Agyemang.

The returnee forward scored in the 70th minute to break Blue hearts who needed a fourth consecutive home win.

Berekum Chelsea are now 12th on the league standings ahead of their next game against Legon Cities.

Medeama, on the other hand, head to Great Olympics where they will want a win to improve their 4th position.
