#GPLwk17: Peprah strikes as King Faisal sink Liberty

King Faisal stretched their home winning run in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League (GPL) and moved up one place in the standings with a 1-0 win over Liberty Professionals Saturday afternoon.

It was Faisal’s third straight win at the Ohene Ameyaw Park and the fourth overall in 16 games, moving them up to 16th in the standings – still in the relegation zone while Liberty further sink to second form bottom.

In-demand striker Kwane Pepprah scored the only goal of the afternoon by converting a spot-kick in the 37th minute.

It was Kwadwo Frimpong who created the opportunity as he was brought down in the Liberty penalty area.

Peprah thought he had registered the second for King Faisal when he connected to an Elvis Nyarko cross late on in the game but the goal was chalked off for what the referee deemed an initial foul in the lead-up to the striker’s header.

Named NASCO man-of-the-match, Kwame Peprah is being courted by Premier League rivals Dreams FC and Hearts of Oak with both confident of tempting him away despite Faisal’s initial hands-off warning.

King Faisal will be completing their 2020/21 GPL first-round campaign with an outstanding match against city rivals Asante Kotoko at Techiman on Wednesday, March 10.
