Caf CC: Accra Stadium to host ES Sétif vs Orlando Pirates Group A clash

The Accra Sports Stadium has been chosen as the venue to host the 2020/21 Caf Confederation Cup opening Group A game between Algeria’s ES Sétif and South African giants Orlando Pirates.

The game was originally scheduled for Sétif on March 10, 2021, but has been moved to Accra due to COVID-19 travel restrictions imposed by the Algerian government.

As a result, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) was called upon for Accra to host the match scheduled to kick off at 19:00 GMT.

All stakeholders have been informed and are ready and eager to extend the usual Ghana hospitality to the participating clubs.

ES Sétif – with new boy Daniel Lomotey now eligible to play – will be making their second trip to Accra in 25 days following last month’s contest against Asante Kotoko while Black Stars goalkeeper Richard Ofori gets a rare chance to play continental football in his homeland with new club Orlando Pirates.

The GFA is working closely with the government COVID-19 response team to ensure that officials and players of both clubs go through the necessary COVID-19 protocols during their stay in Ghana.

On the commercial front, this is a great opportunity for hotels, marketing companies, production houses and Television channels to get business from both clubs and Caf.
