Elmina Sharks, on Monday night, picked up their 8th draw – the most after 13 matches in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League (GPL).
The Nduom Stadium outfit fought out an exciting 1-1 stalemate with Berekum Chelsea at home.
Sharks took the lead but were quickly pegged back by the visitors in the space of three minutes.
On 28 minutes, the hosts scored when Alhaji Mustapha found James Bissue with a long and accurate pass with the striker running between two defenders before lashing the ball one time with his left foot past goalkeeper Samuel Adjei.
Berekum Chelsea’s equalizer came from a brilliant close-range flick-on header by Stephen Sarfo off Kofi Owusu’s cross in the 31st minute.
In search of the winner, the Bibires applied late pressure on Sharks but could not find a goal as Sarfo and Owusu wasted back-to-back begging opportunities from inside the penalty box.
The 1-1 result means Elmina Sharks drop by a place to 12th spot despite gaining one point to leave their tally at 17. Berekum Chelsea retain 15th place – sitting just above the dreaded drop zone – on 14 points.
