VIDEO: Asumah Abubakar scores as late goal denies Lugano win

Ghana-born Portuguese forward, Asumah Abubakar scored his second goal for FC Lugano in the Swiss Super League on Wednesday.

Lugano were denied a much-needed three points from the match-day 20 clash at home by Servette FC who left it late to score deep into stoppage time.

Abubakar handed the hosts the lead in the 18th minute when he was set up for an easy finish by midfielder Jonathan Sabbatini.

The 23-year-old January transfer window signing got substituted in the 85th minute as his second goal in 7 Super League games looked to have earned the Cornaredo Stadium outfit victory.

However, Lugano couldn’t quite hold out for victory as Alex Schalk – who missed a penalty in the 87th minute – finally planted home a cruel late leveller in the second minute of added time.

Another Ghanaian-born striker – Grejohn Kyei – featured in the match for Servette. He came off the bench to replace Ivorian Koro Koné in the 68th minute.

FC Lugano are currently fifth in the Swiss Super League standings.
