Official: Brian Brobbey decides to leave Ajax this summer

The bulky teenage striker has been at the club since 2010.

Ajax have confirmed that young striker of Ghanaian descent Brian Brobbey will leave on a free transfer this summer after refusing a new deal.

The Dutch giants have been trying to convince the 19-year-old to sign a new deal for months but it has not been a success.

The club, Wednesday, announced on their website that the young forward will leave when his contract runs out at the end of the 2020/21 season.

“We think it is too bad and have done everything to keep him at Ajax longer.

“He has chosen to play football elsewhere after the summer. It’s difficult for me to accept, but it’s his decision.

“Brian is still under contract with us for a few months, if we need him the trainers will call on him,” Director of Football Affairs Marc Overmars said on the club’s website.

Brobbey has made six appearances for the Ajax first-team, scoring two goals. He has been prolific in the youth teams.

Mino Raiola is Brobbey’s agent and he will be busy between now and the summer with a number of clubs set to be linked with the striker.
