Legon Cities brush aside Sharks thanks to Hans Kwofie brace

New Legon Cities signing, Hans Kwofie was in sparkling form on his home debut as he netted both goals to hand them a 2-0 victory over Elmina Sharks.

Kwofie has shown he needed no time to settle down in his new environment after only joining them from AshantiGold on February 16 and going on to make a scoring debut away to Bechem United last Sunday.

And the 31-year-old, in his first home bow at the Accra Sports Stadium Wednesday night, socred in either half to hand the Royals full points in their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League match-day 16 fixture against Sharks.

It took Kwofie – the former GPL golden boot winner – 27 minutes to put the Royals ahead after heading home a free-kick from the right.

The opening goal came five minutes after Cities were forced into replacing injured Foster Braimah with new signing Richmond Antwi. Braimah failed to shake off a knock picked as early as the 5th minute.

It was 1-0 at halftime for Cities.

And Kwofie doubled the lead just three minutes into second-half action – his 8th goal of the campaign.

He raced from behind to connect to another free-kick – this time from Baba Mahama – after two Sharks defenders missed the ball with their attempted clearance.

Elmina Sharks looked out of sorts as Legon Cities continued to dominate the game, eventually holding on to win 2-0 to end a run of three successive draws.

Legon Cities now find themselves in 13th position with 19 points from 16 games. Sharks follow them with two points less.
