Dreams FC handed out a 4-1 thrashing to AshantiGold in their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League home fixture Thursday afternoon.
Star signing Joseph Esso netted his first hat-trick of the season before Agyenim Boateng Mensah added his fourth. David Abagna scored the consolation goal for the Miners at the Dawu Park.
The Believers took a 1-0 first-half lead through a controversially awarded penalty converted by the former Hearts of Oak striker as early as the 7th minute.
Esso put Dreams firmly in control of the match-day 16 tie with two quick-fire goals in 8 second-half minutes.
He doubled the lead with a bullet from close range n the 50th minute and then completed his hat-trick three minutes later.
In-form midfielder David Abagna pulled one back for AshantiGold with a beautiful strike into the top corner from distance in the 87th minute.
However, Agyenim Boateng restored the three-goal advantage in the 90th, landing a superb free-kick straight into the top left corner.
The thumping win sees Dreams FC go second in the league standings on 26 points. AshantiGold are 11th with 21 points.
